These crops are gaining momentum as potential feedstocks for the expanding biofuels industry. Planted after harvest and grown over the winter, they offer farmers a way to generate additional revenue without taking acres away from primary crops. During this webinar, we covered:

  • What pennycress is and how it fits into a corn/soybean rotation
  • Why winter oilseed crops are attracting attention from biofuel markets
  • Key considerations for planting, management, and harvest
  • Opportunities to sign up acres for Fall 2026 planting

The Hora family is actively exploring pennycress opportunities on their own farm, and this discussion highlighted how winter oilseeds could fit into your operation.

DC Insights: Learning from Experience

In this episode of the TopSoil® Webinar, Mitchell Hora welcomed Tim Gannon for a candid conversation on agricultural policy and what it means for farmers.

Tim previously served in multiple leadership roles at USDA under Secretary Tom Vilsack in both the Obama and Biden Administrations. Most recently, he served as senior advisor to the Secretary and Chief of Staff to the Under Secretary for Farm Production and Conservation—working at the center of efforts to create new markets for farmers, strengthen crop insurance options, and implement historic conservation initiatives.

Between his time in Washington, Tim returned home to his family’s Century Farm in Jasper County, bringing both policy experience and firsthand farming perspective to the discussion.

During this webinar, Tim shared insights from inside D.C., lessons learned from his time in federal leadership, and perspective on how policy decisions impact farmers across the country.

The Haney Test Explained: Cutting Fertilizer Costs without Sacrificing Yield

Join us for an upcoming TopSoil Webinar featuring Carolyn King, VP of Operations at Continuum Ag, alongside special guIn this TopSoil Webinar, Carolyn King, VP of Operations at Continuum Ag, was joined by special guest Dr. Liz Haney for an in-depth discussion on the Haney Soil Health Test. During this session, they explored:

  • Why the Haney Test was developed
  • What each parameter measures and how to interpret the results
  • How farmers and agronomists are using the Haney Test to make better nutrient management decisions

They also discussed how to apply Haney Test results to reduce fertilizer costs without sacrificing yield, and how Continuum Ag’s RightWay Soil Sampling makes that possible.

Farmers using RightWay Soil Sampling are saving over $50 per acre on fertilizer while maintaining — and often improving — yields. Want to get started? Email sophia@continuum.ag

If you’re looking to turn soil data into real on-farm savings, this replay will show you how smarter soil testing can drive better decisions and better ROI.
