Cheers 2020, Hello 2021!

Continuum Ag is working to engage, teach, and inspire farmers across the nation to better understand what’s going on under their feet, and utilizing the power of technology to do so.

First off, thank you everyone for a good year regardless of the crazy 2020 circumstances.  Here’s to a Merry Christmas and a happy 2021!  Although 2020 was filled with plenty of ups and downs, overall we’ve had a great year at Continuum Ag. We’re very excited to continue to move things forward in 2021. This year, we closed out our first round of investor funding, brought on new employees, launched new features on our TopSoil® Tool, and continued to establish ourselves as a thought leader in the soil health space. Thank you to all who helped us get to where we are today.

As we wrap up 2020, we did learn a lot as it pertained to implementing regenerative practices and documenting sustainability coming from the farm. We had a ton of luck with relay cropping, utilizing 60-inch corn and testing many products in trials with our farmer partners. We’ve dialed in our variable-rate recommendation tools and have automated the system within TopSoil® to help farmers to get unbiased recommendations to improve fertility management and profitability on their farms. Covid-19 has overall been a negative, however, it has caused a heightened interest from the consumer and from consumer-facing companies about where our food comes from and how it was produced.

mega trial 2020

As agriculturalists, we can help to fill the data void by being more transparent and showcasing to the consumer that food truly can be medicine and that we are what we eat, which stems all the way back to the soil. In 2021, we look forward to expanded opportunities for farmers to open up revenue streams for their operations. Those revenue streams tie not only to direct new markets and new commodities, that we continue to explore on our own farm, but also to data-driven opportunities where farmers can get paid for their environmental impacts. There are lots of companies throwing their hat in this sustainability ring, there are tons of carbon markets coming online all the time, and there are new initiatives for farmers to find alternative financing while implementing regenerative systems on their operations.

At Continuum Ag, we did a lot of soul searching this year and have come to the conclusion that we need to quadruple down on who we are, which is being the catalyst for sustainable agriculture and a leader in transparent data systems. Our passion is to help farmers not only improve their short term profitability and management of their operations, by factoring in soil health, but that we can also help farmers to ensure long term economic resiliency and environmental sustainability. We can do this by connecting them with ecosystem service market opportunities, which helped get farmers paid for their impact on carbon, water quality, and water-use efficiencies. Although many programs are emerging, there’s still a lot of development that needs to be done to ensure that environmental stewardship programs are going to be sustainable long term and a positive option for farmers to improve their operations.

At Continuum Ag, we want to ensure that we’re helping farmers to navigate this complex space and navigate towards the best opportunity to improve their farm’s role in a more sustainable future. Now for 2021, we’re continuing to expand our investor fundraising, we’re hiring new key employees, and we are building out exciting additions to our suite of software tools housed within TopSoil®. We look forward to continuing relationships with existing customers and expanding our go-to-market efforts as we focus more on the sustainability data space. Follow along on our social media pages to see how we progress in 2021. Let’s keep the conversations going. Don’t hesitate to reach out.
