July 30, 2025 – Washington, Iowa — Continuum Ag, a leader in Carbon Intensity (CI) scoring and ag data innovation, and Siouxland Energy, a corn ethanol producer based in Sioux Center, Iowa, are preparing for upcoming 45Z tax credit opportunities.
As the U.S. biofuel industry awaits further guidance on Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) provisions under 45Z, Siouxland Energy is ready for the opportunity.
“Siouxland has been monitoring the 45Z tax credit and emerging CI programs. If additional Climate Smart Ag (CSA) guidance is received before year-end, we will make additional considerations,” said Jeff Altena, CEO of Siouxland Energy. “Farmers who elect to calculate their CI Score using the TopSoil Tool or a similar program and keep good farm records will be better prepared in the event Climate Smart Ag considerations are added to the existing 45z program.”
Continuum Ag’s TopSoil platform is helping farmers across the country calculate their CI Score, understand their environmental impact, and prepare to capitalize on emerging market incentives. Although further IRS guidance is needed, progress can be made to ensure success.
“Being ready matters,” said Mitchell Hora, Founder and CEO of Continuum Ag. “We’re proud to support forward-thinking biofuel companies like Siouxland Energy, who understand that farmer participation could be critical to unlock the full value of 45Z.”
