Step-by-Step Guide to TopSoil Connect from Continuum Ag:
Have questions about TopSoil Connect?
We have answers!
Do I need to complete an audit?
An audit is not required to access your unaudited BFR. However, if you wish to participate in certain premium grain markets or programs, you may need to undergo an audit. TopSoil Connect customers will receive a discount on their audit costs or program fees.
What else is included with TopSoil Connect?
TopSoil Connect customers get special access to Continuum Ag’s Preferred Partners. These companies could be helpful as you progress along your soil health journey.
What is the CI Score, and why does it matter?
A CI Score is the carbon footprint score assigned to a bushel of grain, biofuel, or other product. Lower CI Scores can unlock better market opportunities, sustainability incentives, and tax benefits.
How much does TopSoil Connect cost?
TopSoil Connect costs $2/acre. For essentially a penny a bushel, you organize your 2024 and/or 2025 crop data.
What kind of programs can I participate in?
Programs continue to evolve, but may include: Low-CI grain contracts, premiums by the 45Z tax credit or other sustainability initiatives.
How do I get paid for my farm data?
Once you’ve signed up and entered your farm data, you can explore available programs. These programs may offer premiums for low-CI grain, your generated carbon credits, or other sustainability backed outcomes.
What is the Biofuel Feedstock Report (BFR)?
The BFR is a concept proposed by the USDA. This report details your farm’s agronomic practices, which is required for CI Scoring and participation in low-carbon grain programs. When you complete the TopSoil Connect program you receive an unaudited BFR which can be utilized when evaluating premium programs.
What happens if I don’t choose a program?
We think of this as an “options contract.” If a program fits your farm the ROI could be substantial, however, taking control of your data is the real value.
How does TopSoil Connect benefit my farm?
TopSoil Connect gives you the tools to manage your farm data and grants you access to programs that could pay for your efforts. While 45Z and other markets become solidified you are making steps forward to capitalize on any emerging opportunity.
